In the heart of Bengaluru’s Residency Road, Cubit Collective is quietly redefining what modern interiors can be. Founded by siblings Vrinda K Murthy and Vivek Yerkadithaya, the studio blends bold creativity with rigorous technical precision, delivering spaces that are as beautiful to live in as they are to look at.
Vrinda’s path to design began over ten years ago, not in a classroom but through a personal leap of faith. After graduating from R.V. College in 2013, she was working comfortably in the tech industry when she realised her passion lay elsewhere. Inspired by her mother Supriya’s interior design practice, Vrinda traded code for colour palettes, joining the family business to learn the craft from the ground up. Her goal was clear from the start: bring fresh, scalable design thinking into interiors, using modern materials and techniques to create spaces that function as well as they inspire.
Over the years, her portfolio grew from modest residential work to sophisticated, large-scale projects requiring not only creative vision but an acute understanding of execution. That is where her brother Vivek entered the picture. An MBA graduate from the Indian School of Business, Vivek joined about five years ago to bring structure, efficiency, and operational clarity to the business. While Vrinda shaped the design language, Vivek streamlined delivery and scaled operations. Together, they formed a partnership where one imagined and the other made it happen.
In April 2023, they formalised their collaboration under the brand Cubit Collective, pooling over 25 years of combined experience into one focused identity. The studio’s signature style is Contemporary Modern Interiors infused with biophilic elements—from natural materials to greenery and light—designed to create a sense of calm and harmony. While it’s not always possible to physically bring nature indoors, the spirit of connection to the natural world runs through their work.
What distinguishes Cubit Collective is their ability to bridge the gap between concept and completion. In an industry where breathtaking designs can falter during execution, Vrinda and Vivek’s combined backgrounds in design, engineering, and manufacturing ensure that every project is as buildable as it is beautiful. They work closely with clients, often spending months refining details until the design feels like a seamless extension of the client’s lifestyle.
Their approach is deeply personal. Every home is treated not as a contract, but as a relationship. One of their most meaningful projects involved designing a home for a couple in their 80s and 90s. For Vrinda and Vivek, it was more than an assignment—it was a lesson in adaptability, optimism, and the joy of starting anew, no matter your age.
Sustainability also runs deep in their philosophy. They believe green architecture is no longer a niche preference but a shared responsibility between designers and clients. Looking ahead, their focus is on making bespoke, high-end interiors accessible to the upper-middle-class market, bridging a gap they see as ripe for transformation.
Their journey has had its challenges. At one point, the studio hit a creative plateau—repeating familiar colour schemes and safe concepts. Instead of accepting the slowdown, they deliberately disrupted their routine. They introduced internal design challenges, set up an “Inspiration Wall” that rotated with new ideas and materials, attended industry exhibitions, and invited guest speakers to spark fresh thinking. They even redesigned their own workspace to encourage collaboration and spontaneous brainstorming. The result was a revival of not just their design output but the studio’s entire energy.
Vrinda draws inspiration from entrepreneur Sarah Sham, whose ability to grow a design business with humility and grace mirrors her own ideals. Her message to young designers is simple but powerful: “Stay curious, stay grounded, never stop learning—and above all, design with integrity.”
Today, Cubit Collective is more than just an interiors brand—it’s a place where technical expertise, thoughtful design, and human connection come together. Vrinda and Vivek aren’t just shaping rooms; they’re shaping the way people live, breathe, and feel in their spaces. And in every project, from a compact apartment to a sprawling luxury residence, one thing remains constant—the belief that great design should not only be seen but felt.
