Garima Singh Chandel – Turning Science into Skincare You Can Trust

The beauty aisles are crowded. Every shelf glitters with bottles promising miracles—radiance in seven days, flawless skin overnight. Yet for many, the results fall short of the claims. Garima Singh Chandel noticed this disconnect early, and instead of joining the noise, she set out to change the conversation. Today, as Director of Cosmosheer and Associate Vice President at DigiLantern, she is building a skincare brand where credibility matters as much as results.

Garima’s path to entrepreneurship wasn’t accidental—it was the natural outcome of years spent at the intersection of healthcare, technology, and consumer experience. At DigiLantern, she worked with over 600 clinics, helping them grow their digital presence. The role gave her a unique perspective: she understood how doctors evaluate treatments, how patients make decisions, and how trust is earned in healthcare.

By 32, Garima had identified a glaring gap in the beauty market—products were being sold with glossy marketing but little scientific backing. Dermatologists were often left without dependable over-the-counter solutions to recommend, while consumers were left disappointed. In March 2024, she launched Cosmosheer with an initial investment of just ₹5 lakh. Her vision was straightforward yet ambitious: combine modern dermatology with India’s herbal wisdom, and ensure every product is built on evidence, not empty promises.

The growth was swift. In under two years, Cosmosheer reached a ₹12 crore turnover, powered not by celebrity endorsements or viral gimmicks, but by steady word-of-mouth from doctors and consumers who saw real results. The brand’s range addresses common but persistent issues—pigmentation, acne, hair fall, barrier repair—while also encouraging preventive care through products like sunscreens.

Each formulation is crafted with high-performance ingredients—Niacinamide, Salicylic Acid, Peptides, Caffeine, Licorice Extract—co-developed with dermatologists to guarantee both safety and efficacy. But Cosmosheer’s defining trait is its doctor-first model. Rather than competing with clinics, the brand collaborates with them, supplying trusted formulations for medical use while educating consumers to make informed choices.

Breaking into such a competitive, influencer-driven market without overblown claims was not without challenges. “Trust doesn’t happen overnight,” Garima says. “We resisted shortcuts. Our focus was on delivering products that could prove themselves.” This patience—often rare in an industry chasing quick wins—has become a hallmark of both her leadership style and the brand’s growth strategy.

Garima attributes Cosmosheer’s success to three core values: creativity, honesty, and patience. Creativity shapes the brand’s innovation and packaging; honesty ensures every claim is backed by science; patience allows products to be perfected before launch. These values, combined with her deep understanding of the Indian healthcare ecosystem, have helped her navigate obstacles while staying true to the brand’s mission.

Her professional role models aren’t business celebrities but doctors, scientists, and formulation experts whose patient-first approach mirrors her own. “Their integrity inspires me,” she says. “They remind me that long-term impact comes from doing what’s right, not what’s easiest.”

Like any entrepreneur, Garima faced struggles. Convincing people to switch from well-known brands to an emerging one required persistence. Competing against companies with vast marketing budgets meant relying on credibility, not visibility. But each hurdle reinforced her belief that authenticity outlasts trends.

Her advice to new entrepreneurs is clear: Don’t overthink—execute. She urges founders to focus on solving real problems, immerse themselves in their product, and actively seek feedback. “Listening is everything,” she says. “Every meaningful improvement we’ve made has come from hearing what doctors and consumers really need.”

The future for Cosmosheer is ambitious. Garima plans to expand distribution nationwide through dermatology partnerships, strengthen the direct-to-consumer channel, and introduce personalized skincare solutions powered by technology. Research and development will remain at the heart of these plans, ensuring the brand never strays from its evidence-based roots.

The industry has already taken notice. In 2025, Cosmosheer won the Excellence in Cosmeceutical Innovation Award at the SMEBiZZ MSME Star Awards—a recognition Garima sees as validation of her commitment to credibility in skincare. Still, she values something else more. “Awards are wonderful,” she says, “but nothing compares to a customer saying, ‘This worked for me.’ That’s when I know we’re truly making a difference.”

For Garima Singh Chandel, Cosmosheer is more than a brand—it’s a bridge between clinical science and everyday skincare, between the dermatologist’s clinic and the consumer’s bathroom shelf. In a market crowded with fast-talking beauty fads, she is proving that patience, truth, and trust can build something far more lasting.

And as Cosmosheer continues to grow, her guiding belief remains unchanged: real beauty begins with trust, and trust is built one honest formula at a time.
