Shilpa Mittal, Owner: Shilpa Mittal Jewelry
Some success stories make us feel that the world would be so much nicer with more such stories. Shilpa Mittal’s story is one of these. Prioritizing family over her career for years, but keeping the hop alive, Shilpa’s struggles are those that many Indian women can relate to. Her story becomes important as it is that ray of hope that every dreamer hope to see. After a long hiatus of over 14 years, much like the exile of Lord Ram, Shilpa came back stronger and started working on the launch of her jewelry brand and the very first collection. Backed with her qualification in jewelry design, Shilpa had the means to turn her passion into her profession. In all these years, shuttling between being a single parent and keeping the flame of her passion alive, Shilpa managed to balance both worlds and prepare for where she is today.
People often idolize others and look up to them for inspiration, Shilpa didn’t have to go that route, all she did was to keep the faith, have the believe in her potential, her dreams and her vision to create astounding designs and bring in an element of uniqueness to create something truly extraordinary. Envisioning herself as the best designer to stick to her path came in handy when she won laurels and was awarded in the category of “Best Jewelry Designer and Business woman” at the Indian Leadership Awards. She also won the award for Celebrity Jewelry Designer Award by noted model Mugdha Godse.
Her wins don’t take away from her struggles. Trading a chunk of her personal assets to start off the initial investment required for her jewelry line, all while being a single parent, is not just daunting, but also sometimes more often than not, be earth shattering for anyone, the dark waters that Shilpa managed to wade through. To top it, when you jump into work after such a long hiatus, people tend to doubt your worth, even near and dear ones. Shilpa was no exception and was pressurized day in and day out to show a return on the investment, even before she could complete her very first collection. Beating tricky situations like these, got the best of Shilpa and she kept her game on, focus sharp and kept going till she had something concrete to show.
With the belief that “harder I fall, higher I bounce”, Shilpa was sure that nothing could bring her down. There’s a lot to learn from Shilpa’s story and its best said in her own words, “Struggles and problems are a part of everyone’s journey, but when you are passionate and positive, then no matter no dire the situation, there is no way but up.”
