Mr. Suhas PrabhakarRao Kulkarni, HOD, Government Polytechnic  (Maharashtra), is a brilliant man with a passion for Technical Teaching and up-grading the technical education system. From a young age, he wanted to become a civil engineer, but growing up; he thought why not become the person who creates civil engineers with new construction techniques & professional skills for India.

His brilliant mind & thought process for becoming the responsible citizen of the country makes him different from the rest. In his career, he was interviewed by “Maharashtra Public Service Commission in civil engineering in the year 1988 as a Gazetted officer class one”, then worked for the society & students at numerous platforms for “Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, Swachata Abhiyan, Rural and community-based projects” and improving and imparting innovative teaching and learning.” He isn’t just a teacher but also a social worker; he has been involved in several cultural sports and personality development programs.

According to him, his work has an impact on the society  pretty hard as he has “established Industry Institute Interaction, Institute-Institute interaction, Social interaction which helped in upgrading the image of my working institute.” Through his job, he is trying to provide the best of technical teaching & upgraded education to his students, so that despite any economic background, his students can learn and become great engineers for the country. Through his consultancy, many students have been greatly rescued and found their way in the right direction. Not only a teacher, but he is a great leader, indeed.

When we asked him whether he has a mentor or idol in his life, he told us, ” Er. M. Visvesvaraya, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, and former president of India Late Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam are the personalities that really impressed and inspired me because of their dedicated work for India in the field of civil engineering, Education and Research.” Now you can understand the influence he has in his life, which made him this great personality.

“During my childhood up to Tenth class, I studied with the use of lamps due to poverty. This impacted me to enlighten and encourage in the lives of students by teaching through technical education.”

As he fought poverty so hard, he realized the worth of every small aspect of life. Even though he does not regret it, he still wants his students to be properly guided for start-up projects in India. As for advice for the people who want to become something on their own, he says, “Entrepreneurs need to develop ideas/projects/products based on the need for social problems.” As a price for his hard work & noble intention, he was rewarded by the Vikash Ratna Shrimani award. His story is inspirational & we hope you learned something too.
