Ar. Avanii Dhotre: A Versatile and Accomplished Woman Architect
Ar. Avanii Dhotre is the Principal Architect of CREATRIX, her architecture studio based in Pune since 2012. With a degree from Bhanuben Nanavati College of Architecture, Pune University, she leads the studio in various architectural, interior, and landscape projects. Avanii’s passion for the arts has been evident from a young age, with involvement in singing, dancing, painting, and dramatics. She even completed her graduation in Bharatnatyam classical dance.
Her talent and dedication have garnered her numerous awards in singing, acting, and dance competitions. Avanii also extends her expertise as a visiting faculty, teaching design in architectural colleges and evaluating student projects as an examiner.
In addition to her architectural pursuits, Ar. Avanii was the President for the year 2021-2022 at the Rotary Club of Pune Pashan, an international service organization. During her tenure, she spearheaded several impactful projects, receiving prestigious awards for her humanitarian services, women empowerment initiatives, and contributions to education.
Avanii’s design philosophy at CREATRIX revolves around sustainable and culturally sensitive architecture. The studio’s approach combines holistic and detailed analysis to create designs that seamlessly blend with their urban, social, economic, and cultural contexts. They prioritize the use of authentic materials, sustainable practices, and incorporate natural resources actively and passively.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Avanii actively supports local businesses, artists, and suppliers, promoting sustainable design and materials. Her studio’s focus is on understanding clients’ needs, the environment, and the community to create innovative, sustainable, and beautiful designs.
Despite challenges faced as a woman entrepreneur in the industry, Avanii has confidently pursued her passion, leveraging her knowledge, artistic skills, and deep understanding of client psychology. Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is to embrace every opportunity, no matter how small, as it can lead to greater success.
Ar. Avanii has already achieved significant recognition, including being shortlisted for the WADE Asia 2022 award for the best interior design project. She has also received the India ICON Award for the Most Aspiring Woman Architect 2023, Best Rotarian Award, Best Director Award, and numerous accolades for her impactful service projects.
