Thanu Anand Gowda- Founder, Mystic Design
A soloprenuer, who always had a knack for setting exclusive fashion trends, Thanu Anand Gowda is a Bengaluru- based Fashion designer whose splendid designs leave an everlasting impact on onlookers. Blessed with a great fashion sense, Thanu Gowda has successfully made a remarkable place in the Fashion industry. She has been featured in more than 30 corporate shows and ‘Bangalore Fashion league GFW3’. She loves to take risks and “Mystic Design” is one such thrilling rollercoaster journey that brought her tremendous recognition in just 6 years. And her expressional custom made designer incorporating Indian, Western and Indo-Western outfits have been highly applauded big time.
“Back in 2015, I decided to do something that excites me, challenges me, gratifies me; instead of being into a monotonous 9 to 5 job”, she recalls.
Although her parents had invested a lot of money on her education for MS in VLSI, and Embedded Systems from MIT; but she found her calling in the Fashion industry. Belonging to a conservative family from a rural region, becoming a designer had never been a sailing ship for her. But her big dreams used to excite her like nothing else, and in her own words –
“I was not just designing clothes; it was the design of my own dreams and the dreams of my committed team”.
Owing to her dreams that never got of her, since childhood; she joined a college in Bangalore, but the sudden exposure to a metropolitan city shook her. The drastic difference she experienced there, radically changed her thought of expression and made her witness how fashion plays a resounding role in our lives. She believes it is a medium of expressing ourselves and the way of life to make our first & best expression to brand & rebrand ourselves. Ever since, her passion to become a designer burnt strong.
She imbibed the eye for fashion from her mother. Standing as her infinite inspiration, her mother ignited in her the passion to embark on her journey and fulfill her burning desire of creating gorgeous outfits. She reflects, “It’s still carved on my heart how my mother used to design and create outfits from scratch with her sewing machine when I was young.”
Moreover, she has always been supported by her husband during each and every step of her entrepreneurial journey. Initially, she had been skeptical about her decision of commencing her own boutique in their garage, with absolutely no cash in hand, just after a month of an arranged marriage; but her family backed her firmly. Being her backbone when she was sailing through hardships, her husband took the complete responsibility of setting up her boutique, and woke the sleeping dragon in her. “He worked round the clock above and beyond to see me successful”, Thanu asserts.
She believes that India is one of the best countries to incept a business, where middle class is growing with huge potential and a substantial uplift of life style. So, she defines her fashion statement – “Be unique, be creative and be affordable.”
“People will stare, so make it worth their while… “, she chuckles.
With a firm belief, she says, “Life is like a food menu, let’s not make it cliché with same menu; change the way you live, you express and make the best impression.” Her brand always incorporates the flavors of creativity which delights the customers by exceeding expectations beyond imagination.
