In the heart of Odisha’s villages, where clean water was once scarce, Spring Health India has transformed daily life. Founded on January 11, 2010 and led by Mr. Jacob Mathew, Audrey Selian, and Sandeep Roy Chaudhary, the organisation now operates 273 kiosks, delivering safe drinking water to 28,000 families every day – directly to their doorsteps.

ToggleAt 57, Sandeep Roy Chaudhary reflects on a turning point inspired by the late Dr. Paul Polak and Chairman Jacob Mathew. Leaving the corporate world, he took on the challenge of bringing safe, affordable water to rural homes. It wasn’t instant – it took a year of deliberation – but once committed, there was no going back.
Spring Health’s water purification uses Chlorine Dioxide technology powered entirely by solar energy. This non-RO system ensures zero water wastage, safeguards groundwater, and delivers purity equal to any RO unit – without harming the environment. Door-to-door delivery frees women from long walks to collect water, giving back hours each day for education, work, and family.
Early struggles included months without salaries, investor hesitation, and the uphill task of changing mindsets about paying for water. Sandeep himself went unpaid for over two years – but persistence proved stronger than obstacles.
With 600,000 villages in India still without safe drinking water, the potential for growth is enormous. Recognised as one of the 50 Most Impactful Leaders in Water Management (2017) and among the Top 10 Innovative Start-ups in Water Technology (2025), Spring Health’s model is ready to scale nationally and globally.
“The first 100K in funding is always the hardest,” Sandeep says. “But if you keep going, the rewards – and the lives you change – are worth every challenge.”
