Foodtech giant Swiggy has announced the expansion of its meal delivery service to 100 railway stations across India, marking a major milestone in its partnership with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). This service, which began over a year ago, allows railway passengers to pre-order meals that are delivered directly to their train seats during their journey. The expansion comes after successful operations in a few select locations and aims to provide a more convenient and reliable dining experience for travelers.

The service, which has been enhanced in collaboration with IRCTC, is now operational across 20 additional railway stations, further extending its reach. In a LinkedIn post, Swiggy highlighted the scale of the offering, noting that over 60,000 brands participate in the service, providing more than 7 million items spanning over 35 different cuisines. The broad menu and extensive network of brands participating in the service is a testament to Swiggy’s commitment to providing a premium and diverse dining experience for its customers.

Swiggy’s report indicated that approximately 54,000 travelers placed multiple meal orders in a single trip, demonstrating the growing trend of passengers ordering more than one meal to enhance their travel experience. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner, passengers can select meals based on their preferences and have them delivered at specific times during their journey.

The partnership with IRCTC is central to Swiggy’s ability to offer this service at scale.
