Turning hobbies into business venture is not new and Shefali Mehta from Kolhapur is another such example who is living her dreams, yet successfully sailing through her entrepreneurial expedition. Been into the business for last 25 years, she is now a known face in the entertainment circuit of Kolhapur.
She symbolises today’s multifaceted woman and have been duly recognized for her talents. From being Miss Kolhapur to Mrs Kolhapur, the journey has been fascinating. Besides bagging several awards for sports and dance, she has been conferred with Iron lady Kolhapur award and best Dandia Garba National Award.
Bollywood stars like Shilpa Shetty and Madhuri Dixit has always inspired her to get going into her entrepreneurial journey. Her mother has always been her support system, while she efficiently managed her venture through various ups and downs. She had suffered monetary struggles a lot, yet her indomitable courage and never say die attitude helped her make the right progress. Even though it looks easy now, her journey so far wasn’t easy though, but her persistence, hard work and customer focus garnered all the triumph.
Over the years, Shefali has done anchoring for key events, not only in India but abroad too. She has always been the centroid to various marriage sangeet and mehendi functions hosted in India and USA. She has also choreographed sangeet programs. She is an extremely talented individual trained in western classical, folk dancing and traditional Indian form. She also conducts workshop for dandia and garba across various Indian cities. Being a certified trainer in aerobics, Zumba, Bokwa, Piloxing, ifaa, Power yoga, and Kizumba; helped her run both fitness as well as dance academy.
She has always endorsed fitness and her passion towards dance made a killer combo. On asking what encouraged her to get into this business, she responds candidly
“I always liked to be fit and make India fit with the concept of music and dance. My hobby is anchoring so I chose it as my profession and then again dance, fitness workouts is an upward trend. So, I got into these two.”
Besides being a businesswoman, she also contributes for social causes. She has been a part of NGO and takes free workshops of dance and fitness for special children, mentally and physically disabled children of Red Cross society, she also does free hosting for the needy. Like this she gives back to the society that has given her all the name and fame. With the mission to keep India fit, she definitely would inspire the next generation – not only to be fit but using fitness as a tool for entrepreneurship journey. The way music sets you free and makes one dance, this woman entrepreneur ignored all her drawbacks and danced to the music of success.
