In a bold new move, Uber India has announced its foray into the motorhome travel segment with the launch of Intercity Motorhomes, a limited-period pilot initiative aimed at offering a premium and comfortable long-distance travel experience. The pilot program is being rolled out in Delhi NCR, and bookings will be available from August 4, with the service operational between August 7 and September 6.

This innovative launch is part of Uber’s strategy to diversify its services in India and tap into the growing market for luxury intercity travel. In addition, Uber has expanded its existing Intercity service network to now cover over 3,000 routes across the country, providing users with more travel options than ever before.

What Is Uber Intercity Motorhomes?

The new Uber Intercity Motorhomes are designed to cater to small groups, with each vehicle accommodating 4 to 5 riders. These motorhomes come with a professional driver and a helper, ensuring a stress-free and well-managed travel experience.

What sets this service apart is its focus on comfort and convenience. The motorhomes are fitted with several premium amenities, including:

  • A television for on-the-go entertainment
  • A microwave for heating meals
  • A mini-refrigerator to store beverages and snacks
  • A lavatory, providing the much-needed convenience for long journeys

These features aim to offer an elevated intercity travel experience, blurring the lines between road travel and luxury staycations.

App-Based Convenience at Your Fingertips

Uber has integrated its Intercity Motorhomes with its app-based functionalities to offer a seamless booking experience. Riders will benefit from:

  • Uber Reserve: Schedule your ride in advance
  • Real-time tracking: Monitor your trip and share it with others
  • Multiple stop bookings: Plan your journey with several halts
  • 24/7 customer support: Get help whenever you need it

The motorhome option will appear as a dedicated icon on the Uber app, making it easy for users to identify and select the service when booking.

Meeting the Demand for Premium Road Travel

The move comes at a time when road trips and domestic tourism are seeing a significant surge in India. With the growing preference for safe, private, and comfortable travel, Uber’s Intercity Motorhomes cater to a niche yet expanding segment of travelers looking for more than just a ride.

The pilot program will help Uber gauge customer interest and gather feedback, possibly paving the way for a wider rollout in other metro cities or popular tourist routes.

Final Thoughts

Uber’s entry into the motorhome travel space is a noteworthy step in the evolution of India’s intercity mobility landscape. By combining comfort-driven features with tech-enabled convenience, Uber is setting new standards for long-distance road travel in the country.

Whether you’re planning a family trip, a getaway with friends, or simply want to travel in style and ease, Uber’s Intercity Motorhomes might just redefine how India hits the road.
