Mr Vishal Subudhi – Center Director, JD Institute of Fashion Technology –Bhubaneswar
Vishal Subudhi, the Center Director of ‘JD Institute of Fashion Technology’, who has been incredibly steering the institute for the last five years, is an immensely ambitious person by nature who always believes that nothing on earth is achievable without hard work, firm dedication and determination. Vishal, besides being a fashion entrepreneur, is a fashion consultant and critic as well.

ingapore, Vishal returned to his hometown Bhubaneswar, and this was the time when the entrepreneurial bug bit him hard. With a strong desire to initiate something of his own, he apparently came across an advertisement of ‘JD Institute’ and got hooked to the idea of having a branch in Bhubaneswar. Sharing the similar fashion sensibilities with his father, who has already been into interior trade business, both agreed on the fact that there were not many good institutes in Bhubaneswar which provide education in fashion and interior design. Soon after having a conversation with each other, they both got interested in initiating the talk with the head office of ‘JD Institute’. And in no time, everything fell into place and ‘JD Institute of Fashion and Technology, Bhubaneswar’ came into existence in 2014.
He shares gratitude to his parents- Sibadutta Subudhi and Prabina Subudhi, who have always been by his side as a pillar of strength during every phase of life, and always looks up to them for valuable advice. Drawing immense inspiration from the Executive Director of ‘JD Institute of Fashion and Technology’, ‘RC Dalal’, who has left for the heavenly abode now, Vishal has always been in awe of his innovative ideas, vision and approach towards fashion. He reflects that this innovative soul still finds a special place in his heart which keeps him inspiring every single moment.
Sharing the roller coaster ride of his venture, Vishal shares that for not having many professional design institutes in Bhubaneswar, there had been abysmal levels of awareness about fashion among people, which toughened the process of convincing the students and parents about the scope in fashion and interior design studies. Enumerating other challenges he faced during the inception of the institute, Vishal shares that scouting skilled facility and fixing the syllabus structure were a few other hindrances on the way. But despite all the challenges, the hard work, dedication and unwavering focus kept on aiding them to sail through all odds.
Joining hands with leading fashion brands without realizing if the move will pay off in the long run or not, had been the biggest risk of his life, which required long hours of research, intensive discussion and brainstorming sessions to impart an appropriate platform to the students during and after their education curriculum.
This dynamic entrepreneur never believes in limiting himself with the four walls of a chamber, rather keeps himself updated on the latest trends in the market by interacting with the industry experts, fashion professionals and has attended several seminars across the country, which extensively backed him in gaining experience so as to bring in any innovation in his approach.
The risk taking ability and constant hunger to learn new things gives Vishal an edge over others. His institution has bagged the laurel of ‘Institution of the year for fashion Technology’ at Etv Eduquest Excellence Awards 2015, by ‘ETV News’, ‘Network19 Co’.
